San Diego Kiteboarders

Hi,
I'm visiting SD on a work trip and brought along some of my gear. Is anyone going out tomorrow? Where is the best place to go? I've been boarding for a few years on the east coast (MD, VA and NC mainly), but never out in the pacific yet. Thanks for the info!!!

sorry, missed this. Hope you found some wind!

Calikites hooked me up with a 16m, which was reall cool, but they only had a Proof 161, which isn't the best light wind board. I still had a good time, but missed the best wind as I wasn't on the water until 5pm.

QUESTION: Where is the best spot to go today at about 1pm? I'm planning on heading back to Strand, the prediction there is max 16mph. Any suggestions?

looks like you might luck out!!

Your 12 might work today! If not, lean on Cali for a demo kite. :)

Thanks Will! Your suggestion for going to Silver Strand and stopping by CaliKites is exactly what I was planning to try. Unfortunately I didn't get on this blog while I was sitll in MD so I could have packed my 19m. I only brought a 12m, wetsuit, hood, booties, gloves, etc...

I will travel for wind, though, so if it loooks to be blowing up north I'll definitely head up there.

Thanks so much,
Dan

Hey Dan, what kind of gear did you bring along? This is a strange time of year so you could need you biggest kite biggest board combo or you could get lucky (like today) and need a 12.
The forecast for tomorrow doesn't look great, but it could be ok. buoyweather has 13-18 knots, everything else isn't showing much.
If you want to hit the ocean, your best bet is the Silver Strand on Coronado. Stop by CaliKites on Orange ave on your way down for the scoop. If you're staying further north you can check out South Mission Beach or Tourmaline in Pacific Beach, but please, only go to Tourmo if you are competent in the waves and with crowds. We do not want any issues with surfers, lifeguards, bikini clad co-eds, or anyone. Check out Fiesta Island in Mission Bay if you want easy access flat water. It can be a little more gusty there, but the people are nice and you can show off your latest wakestyle tricks.
If you are in North County, go by XdreamSportz in Solana Beach on Lomas Sante Fe. John can tell you the north county scoop.

I can't make it out tomorrow (work...) but most SD kiters are pretty friendly. We get good at talking since we can't ride much. :)
