In case anyone doesn't know Owen, he's our local 9 yr old ripper! Owen can be found riding Stinkies and he'll probably be upwind of you. He's riding awesome and having a blast while doing it!
His dad Scott (Elvis) put together this amazing video of him. Check it out!

Well, looking at some forecasts it looks like only good bet for wind this weekend is San Quintin. Damnit. I really don't want to deal with Mexico. Flu, gangs, Montezuma, car jackers, armed check points. suck!
Looks like central Cali is getting rain or gusty winds. Isabella might work, but it's an inland lake.
Any ideas kids? Continue
Hi,
I'm visiting SD on a work trip and brought along some of my gear. Is anyone going out tomorrow? Where is the best place to go? I've been boarding for a few years on the east coast (MD, VA and NC mainly), but never out in the pacific yet. Thanks for the info!!! Continue

Wow, just a little wind last Sunday!
I caught an early session in the mad crazy ocean and then a sunset session at Stinkies. As gusty as it was, I actually had more fun at Stinkies! The ocean was a mess and I was overpowered on a 12m. The bay had emptied out as people got tired and went home. I was still overpowered on the 12m but had a lot more fun. This will teach me to leave my 8m in the garage!
I took a few pics of the day and they are up on my picasaweb site. Check them out here: http://p… Continue

Ya, so this site seems to be slowing down traffic wise. I know a lot of you out there are not sitting at a computer all day (like some of us) and probably only check the site every few weeks. Is there anything we can do to make the site more interesting? Maybe to get more people to blog their sessions?
I'm up for suggestions. This site was put up as an experiment to see if we could get people communicating online. The next experiment will be how to get people to continue participating.

So good news and more good news. The first good news is that I am trying to make it back to San Diego sometime in the 2009 year, hopefully sooner than later depending on jobs and living arrangements. The next part of the good news is, I should be cleared to go skiing for december. We will start fitting braces hopefully in november. Though I am in no rush to get back out there, this is just one confidence booster that makes me very excited.
Everyone kite safe and dont forget to stay loose and st… Continue
I just got a call about a kiter on a lime green Best kite that was kiting Tourmo on Sunday (8/17). Apparently the kiter couldn't stay upwind for whatever reason (lack of wind? lack of skill?) and was walking their kite back up the beach every few minutes. I REALLY hate to police our spots but we will get kicked out and banned from places like Tourmo if something goes wrong on a crowded summer day! Everyone please please please use good judgment and stay away from Tourmo in summer unless the beac… Continue

Just to embarrass Dan and I, I've found some really old pics of us back when we really couldn't kite.
Pics are here
These are from 2003-2004. I did notice that all my recent statements that Stinkies was crowded even back then are totally wrong. Check out how few kites there were out there! Of course Laroy was there!
Man I hate that gear! I wish we had bow kites and cool boards! Continue
Aloha,
I'm heading over to Maui for a week on the 24th. Staying with my kid sister down in Kihei at our family's condo. Just me, no wife and kids. Translates to lots of time to snorkel, scuba, standup paddle surf, and kite. Going to be a great week, lots of exercise!

So with the lack of wind in SD, I've managed to hitch a ride on a friend's boat and go wakeboarding a few times now.
I didn't come from a wake background and only really did it in high school from time to time back when knee boarding was cool (actually, it never was). I can ride around, but I basically suck.
It's such a trip how much harder on your body it is than kiting. I was super sore after the first few trips. My knees kill after each session, but it's super fun! The boards are quite diff… Continue

So I farted, I also had surgery and now I am almost walking. Where the hell is everyone on this site that joined. Dont join and not do any posting, what is the point. Use your cell phone to text people, and check this place and post some interesting stuff. Damn I need some entertainment, I do nothing but sit around all day.
Come on. Continue

Well, Im pretty sure everyone pretty much knows that I am out of San Diego and never did quite make it to Cape Hatteras. I was sidelined by a knee injury just a week before my expedition was supposed to start. Now back in new york I have been in the process of seeing doctors to find out exactly what the deal is. So I found out last week that I have a torn ACL after taking an MRI. So now the plans have changed and it looks like I will be getting surgery in a couple weeks followed by rehab and a h… Continue
This is the kind of conditions that you travel 1000's of miles to get. 20-25 mph winds, waist to occasional head-high waves, oh man what a great day.
I rode my Underground 132 all day with my 14m Switchblade, it was slightly depowered, a 12 would have been perfect.
Lots of folks out, even the Oceanside crew had come down for this kind of wind. Kevin was ripping out there, and so was Kiki, Yoko, Vanessa, Max. Early in the morning Corky was just shredding waves both on a surfboard, and then late… Continue
Today just kept getting better and better up until about 5pm. Wow, what a great day! Stoked too that everyone was there, great to see everyone riding together and having fun!
I started out on my old Contra 17, but had to pack it away after one of the depower bungee cords gave out.
Worked out good because I put up my 14m SwitchBlade 2 and that rocked! I got some series float on some of my jumps. Thanks to everyone hooting and yelling from the beach, the encouragement definitely drives me to go… Continue
Just got back from Puerto Rico, we went there for like 10 days and really had a blast.
I would describe the place as carabean light, you have all the beauty of one of these Islands but still the convienence of being in the states, which means that you have decent shopping in San Juancould dare to rebnt a car to ge arround and are not trapped in some resort or resort town.
We got a god deal on hotel and rental car thru hotwire, I was always really lucky and happy with there services and product… Continue

I'm headed off to Hatteras in a little over a week and I've started thinking about packing. Decided to read exactly what the ass-monkeys at Continental did to their baggage policy to rape travelers and guess what, it sucks.
http://www.continental.com/web/en-US/content/travel/baggage/checkbag.aspx
Basically, it's $25 to check a second bag. All bags still have to be under 50lbs so no stuffing your first bag. Kite gear now costs $95 and there's no way any kite board bag is under their stupid "lin… Continue
