San Diego Kiteboarding

San Diego Kiteboarders

Hey guys,

I am new to this forum but I am looking for some advice. I am from Seattle, but have a trip/vacation planned through work to go tuna fishing out of SD in septermber. I am thinking about taking a few extra days off to kite in a new spot. Would you guys mind sharingany insight on kiting in Spetember and some spots I should look into?

I mostly ride flysurfer and can bring down a 19m if necessary. my travel board is limited to a 134x40, and im about 210 lbs.

thanks for any help!

Hi,

september is one of the better seasons in the area which doesn't mean much tho.

Definetly bring your big kite and as big a board as you can get down here, the most likely scenario will be like 12-15mph.

Prime spots arround that time are J-Street, Silver Strand and Tourmaline, depending on what exactly the wind is doing.

Stinkeys and Sail Bay work to when there is wind.

thanks

Hi - I am also thinking of going to SD, but I have the option to choose from sep-oct-nov. Wihch time would be the better?

Would you also recommend a baja trip or is it out of season for that?

Thanks in advance

sp-Oct is one of our 2 seasons which doesn't mean much tho.

September October are likely the best month.

Baja/san quintin can still work great in September October but the ocean is stinking clod already. i assume San Carlos is the same.unless there is a rainstorm or a Santa Ana.

If we have a rainstorm your just screwed, on a santa Ana san Felipe offfers some of the best kiting on the planet.

thanks

Marko

It's always hit or miss around here. November has not been a very good month for the last 3 years. Come Oct or Sept. There should be about 10 or more kiteable days each month. No promises.

Bring the big kites.
